Bron van zegen ben Jij, YHVH (Adonai), onze God, Heerser over alle werelden, die ons heiligt met behulp van de mitswot en in ons behagen heeft gevonden, en ons met liefde en welgevallen de heilige Sjabbat als erfdeel heeft geschonken, ter herinnering aan het werk van de Schepping. Want deze dag hield vanaf het begin een oproep in tot wijding, een herinnering aan de Uittocht uit het Land van benauwenis. Want Jij hebt ons gekozen uit alle volkeren en ons een heilige, aparte plaats gegeven, en ons welwillend en liefdevol Jouw heilige Sjabbat laten erven. Bron van zegen ben Jij, YHVH (Adonai), die de Sjabbat heilig maakt.

Het is overduidelijk en bekend – ten overstaan van Uw troon van glorie – dat als een van hen kapot zou zijn, of als een van hen geblokkeerd zou zijn, het onmogelijk is te overleven en voor U te staan. Bron van zegen bent U, God, Die alle vlees geneest en wonderbaarlijke daden verricht.
